Mount Sinabung on the island of Sumatra has active in recent months, spewing columns of ash. See More Picture!!

FromYahoo News, Indonesia ordered the evacuation of 15,000 residents near an active volcano in the west of the vast archipelago on Sunday as authorities raised the alert for the emergency to the highest level.

Mount Sinabung on the island of Sumatra has become increasingly active in recent months, spewing columns of ash several km into the air.

Authorities expanded the evacuation radius to 5 km (three miles) from 3 km and the military geared up to move residents out. About 6,000 have already been evacuated from the area, 88 km from Medan, capital of North Sumatra province.
No casualties were reported as the status of the volcano was raised from "standby" to "caution".

"We have raised the status to 'caution', which is the highest of levels for volcanic activity because we anticipate there will be more eruptions and because the intensity of eruptions has been increasing," the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said in a statement.

Sinabung is one of nearly 130 active volcanoes in the world's fourth-most populated country, which straddles the "Pacific Ring of Fire".
The most deadly eruption in recent years was of Mount Merapi in 2010, near the densely populated city of Yogyakarta in central Java. More than 350 people were killed.

A South Korean helicopter has crashed into a high-rise apartment block in Seoul's posh Gangnam

According to Al- Jazeera News, A South Korean helicopter has crashed into a high-rise apartment block in Seoul's posh Gangnam district, leaving two pilots dead, rescue workers said.

The private helicopter on Friday hit several apartments near the top of the 30-storey building before plunging to the ground, said the National Emergency Management Agency.

Two pilots - the sole passengers of the aircraft owned by LG Electronics - were found dead. No residents of the building were killed or injured, an agency official told AFP.

"It appears that the pilots lost visual due to extremely foggy weather," said the official who declined to be named.

The helicopter was set to pick up an LG executive in Gangnam for a business trip to the southern city of Jeonju, Jeon Myeong-Wu, LG's PR executive said in an interview with the YTN news channel.

TV news footage showed windows broken and walls collapsed at the luxury apartment block and the crumpled wreckage of the helicopter with the LG logo.

Hundreds of police officers, rescue workers and soldiers have been deployed to help clear the wreckage and evacuate residents after the rare accident.

The upscale district of the South's capital - home to high-end shopping malls and million-dollar apartments - was made famous by last year's global hit song "Gangnam Style" by South Korean rapper Psy.
